Sense Of Belonging & Identity Counselling

Helping you reconnect with your purpose and place in the world.

Where you might be right now:

You’ve felt out of place for as long as you can remember…

You might be here because you’re tired of feeling like the black sheep or odd one out.

You have parts of yourself that you question, and sometimes feel ashamed or embarrassed about.

You may have even spent your entire life trying to meet the expectations and demands placed on you by others, and it’s starting to create an inner tension.

You’re tired of feeling lonely…

You know there are loved ones who only want the best for you, but sometimes it feels like nobody fully gets you.

You catch yourself overworking, distracting, or numbing to cope with that loneliness that you keep feeling.

Perhaps you experienced life between two different worlds, never quite feeling like either one is yours.

It can feel like you’re pulled in different directions. You may have even gotten used to living with this tension.

You might be starting to notice…

  • A part of you wants to be with people, but sometimes it feels like your only peace is when you’re alone.
  • You feel uncomfortable and out-of-place in your own skin.
  • You experience negative self-talk, shame, guilt, low self-esteem, or a harsh inner critic.
  • You feel like you've lost your place in the world.
  • You feel isolated and lonely, even when you’re around people.
  • You worry that others will judge you if they really knew you.
  • You struggle to stay present, and find yourself numbing with substances, social media, or other distractions.
  • Things that you’ve known with certainty about yourself are starting to feel more unsure.

You deserve to find acceptance for who you are.

It can be easy to question whether you will ever find your place and purpose in the world.

Growing up between two cultures, and in toxic environments where I had to hide and suppress parts of myself, I have experienced the loneliness and isolation that comes with feeling like you don’t belong.

I also understand the sense of clarity and direction that can come with effective, culturally responsive and inclusive therapy, and I go beyond band-aid solutions and focus on helping you listen to the voice of inner truth.

By integrating a holistic mind, body, and spirit approach, I help you to release the pain of the past and step into relationships that are genuinely supportive.

I want to help you strengthen the inner compass needed to feel empowered for who you are, not who you’ve had to be.

Inner struggle is often the beginning of change, and it’s time you answer the call to change.

I believe that you can have yourself, and have genuine, authentic connection, too.

It’s never too late to live a life of purpose, connection, and belonging.

Your Treatment Roadmap

Finding a psychotherapy counselling therapist you can trust is extremely important to healing. I have laid out the standard roadmap of what working with me will look like to help you know what to expect.

1.

Booking A Consultation Call:

Read the website and get to know a little bit about me, the type of clients I work with and the issues I commonly treat. See if anything resonates with you.

If you see yourself in any of this, reach out to schedule a no-commitment consultation call.

2.

During Our Consultation Call:

I’ll ask you some questions to get a better understanding of your concerns. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask me any questions to make sure I’m a good fit.

I’ll explain the process and next steps for payment, booking, intake, and frequency.

3.

Planning & Treatment:

We begin building a relationship, understand how this problem formed, and develop goals to guide our work together.

I’ll ask you questions to help you look at old issues in new ways, understand where you're getting stuck, and equip you with tools to begin to heal.

Depending on the nature of your issue, the type of therapy, and the desired outcome, this can include talk therapy, somatic (body) work, skill building (nervous system regulation, communication, strengths and values embodiment), guided meditations, dream analysis, or spiritual counselling.

4.

Moving Forward:

The length and number of sessions will differ depending on your needs.

Depending on the nature of the issues and the desired outcomes, some clients reach their intended outcome at 12 sessions.

In more complex cases, clients may benefit from additional ongoing support.

5.

Ending Your Therapy:

Together, we regularly assess the therapeutic progress to determine if we are moving in the right direction, and make changes where needed.

When it’s time to end, we review the progress you've made, and set next steps to help you maintain the growth you have developed outside of therapy.

Hi, I’m Tristan.

Pronouns: he/him

I’m passionate about empowering people who feel misunderstood, ashamed, anxious, and lonely, to feel comfort and acceptance in their own mind, body, and spirit.

I love seeing the energy and excitement on clients’ faces when they start to feel empowered in their lives – when people and places no longer bring up anxiety, when their relationships feel supportive, and they thrive in their careers.

How I developed my passion for working with trauma, anxiety, identity, loss, and spiritual crises.

My own healing journey wasn’t straightforward. I experienced complex childhood trauma, and was surrounded by communities that reinforced shame.

I went through most of life being made to feel that I was the problem for not simply getting over my past and moving on. And believe me… I tried!

What I didn’t know was that all the things I felt made sense. Feeling social anxiety in groups, feeling lonely and detached even when I was in relationships, and wanting connection but not knowing how to let people in.

These were all products of intergenerational trauma, racism, and oppression. Being able to safely explore these feelings at my own pace with skilled therapists helped me learn to love and trust myself, find new meaning in my faith, and cultivate supportive relationships.

Therapy, taught me the tools needed to live a life of connection, meaning, and purpose.

I’ve made it my mission to pass these skills on to folks like you who are ready for meaningful and intentional change.

If you’re ready to ditch the wounds of the past and live a fulfilling life, let’s talk.
